Yunier Dorticos wins by TKO

Journeyman fighter Hilario Guzman displayed bravery but paid dearly for his valor.

Guzman lasted into the fourth round before his cornermen spared him from additional harm against Yunier Dorticos on Friday night at Miccosukee Resort and Gaming.

The technical knockout victory at 1:20 of the fourth round culminated a successful professional debut for Dorticos, a former member of the Cuban national team. Dorticos defected from the island earlier this year.

Using his height and reach advantage, Dorticos outclassed Guzman (8-28) throughout the cruiserweight bout with lead rights to the head. When he pressed Guzman to the ropes, Dorticos also connected repeatedly with rights to the body.

Late in the first, Dorticos scored with a left hook to the head, sending Guzman to the canvas for the only knockdown.

Dorticos continued to pepper Guzman with rights to the head, keeping him pinned to the ropes. Guzman landed his best shot when he caught Dorticos with an overhand left to the head in the closing minutes of the second round.

But Dorticos toyed with Guzman for the remainder of the bout, even blowing kisses at his opponent.
